"The Shape of Things to Come..."

"Greetings SURFACEDWELLERS," It has been quite sometime since I have posted here in SURFACEWORLD, life and work have kept me away much longer than anticipated. Currently I am knee deep in work and preparation for the coming year, 2013...that is if those Mayans weren't right and the world doesn't manage to end come the end of this year-lets hope not, I have wayyyy too much work left to do-too much yet to accomplish. As I have been the past year and a half, I've been dilligently working on my books; "KUDU-MAN" and "MANDI", getting them ready for their eventual release. "KUDU-MAN" was temporarily put on the back burner while I worked on other projects but now hes getting my full attention once again. I am also putting together what will be my first official art book, simply named "SURFACEART"(see cover above), the book will contain a small collection of some of my earlier works in both black and white pieces and full color. This will also mark the first official publication under my Peacenik Press banner. Peacenik Press will soon have an official website as well, which will serve as the official website of all my published works...I will make an announcement as soon as its up and running. I will do my best to update more often both here and in my gallery, to see more recent work by me visit my deviantart page at;www.surfaceart.deviantart.com
Till next time I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season-take care, peace. :)

MOEBIUS is GONE!

It is with great sadness and shock that I have learned of the passing of artist/visionary Jean Giraud better known to the world as "Moebius".
I saw my first Moebius piece when I was around 9-10 years old, and it made a profound impression on me as an individual and as an artist, course at the time I was just drawing and doodling dinosaurs and roughly drawn human characters, but Mr. Girauds art instilled in me a new aspiration and appreciation for personal and professional artistic expression. Even at that tender age, at that moment I decided that I wanted to do this as a career and Jean Giraud was a key element in that decision. For most of my life I, along with most of the world who has come to enjoy his art knew him simply as "MOEBIUS", an interesting and distinctive moniker. In the years to come even to this day when I hear that name....My ears perk up, eyes brighten, and hopes are heightened by what it could be connected to...The world is filled with artists and creators of all mediums, all talented, all striving to express themselves in unique ways whether it is to influence and/or educate the world, to protest or support, to create that which was not there before, or simply to exorcize one's demons. Moebius did all of this and more and with a very unique style that placed him on a somewhat higher plane of artistic existence and not only the style but the subjects he depicted were mesmorising, alluring and often enlightening. In a world filled with pain, death, and violence he offered to us a passport to escape into his worlds, we had many choices, all great, all enticing...Riding in the old west with "Leiutenant Blueberry", delving once again into the "Airtight Garage" with Jerry Cornelius, or flying high amongst the clouds with "Arzach" were but a few of the amazing places and characters he gave us. As an artist and fellow creator I mourn his loss greatly, not as a fellow human being, we are all mortals on this plane and someday we will all move on...its inevitable. While I along with countless others around the world celebrate the man and his work I will also mourn for there will be no more "new" masterpieces to behold from this great illustrator. The world has suddenly become less attractive with his loss.

New Year / New Start...

"Happy New Year" to all my adoring "SURFACEDWELLERS",
2011 is a thing of the past and I for one am glad to see it go-it will not be missed by this artist's heart. It wasn't all bad but there were some months in the middle that saw your truly and the studios in bad shape, so much so that projects had to be put on the backburner due to stress caused by debt and unemployment.
That was then, this is now. I am now gainfully employed and feeling more secure in my new job as each day passes, which as one gets older in this world one tends to appreciate more.I have gotten back on track with my creator owned projects with the firm goal of releasing my first book; "KUDU-MAN" #1 before or by the end of this summer along with some other projects that I am currently developing but more about that at a later time. I am also getting caught up on some old commissions that are overdue, some long overdue. So come end of January I should finally be caught up. The 12 issue epic sci-fi comic series "ULTIMATE-7" that I worked on with creator Robert Wawrzyniak is now available and is currently releasing issue #4, response has been good, fans seem to like the old fashioned type sci-fi storyline with starnge creatures of all types and the neverending battle between the forces of good and evil...on a galactic scale. You can check out the series and information on the creators and ordering information at the official website at; whref="http://www.theultimate7.com"> visit it and check it out.
In the next couple of months I will be launching an additional website for my Peacenik Press projects, this will be my imprint that will be producing my creator owned books along with other items like apparell, stickers, posters etc...I'll announce as soon as its ready to launch.
Thank you all for the continued support especially on the tough times here-heres hoping thant nothing lies ahead but "Sunshine & Lollipops" for us all.
Peace and GOD bless... :)
